WOPAs Day at Loop Road on 4th April 2009

A group of WOPAs taking advantage of the sunshine at Loop Road. Even more were present at the end of the game but the camera failed !
Note Andy Osborne's first WOPAs attendance. Again we watching the "All Star Fours" who are still playing two years on from the report below.
I believe we have Smudger and Richard Adamson to thank for the barrel of Youngs. A decent beer certainly makes for a more convivial occasion.

WOPAs Day at Loop Road on 3rd November 2007

Past Chairman Bayfs was a welcome addition to the usual attendees and he was delighted to see the bar he had built in the Clubhouse in 1986 was still functioning even though it had no decent bitter available for consumption. During the games most of the WOPAs activity centred around the “All Star Fours” containing such luminaries as the two G-Men, Godman and Gallagher. They ended up winning their fixture with Witan III by three goals to one.

WOPAs Day at Loop Road on 6th October 2007

The first WOPAs day of the new season started quietly probably due to the England thrashing of the Wallabies being on TV. The latecomers missed the Ones scoring two cracking goals early on against O Suttonians, going on to win 3-0. Les Eckett on a fleeting trip from France and Adie Usher from deepest Sussex added to the usual group of attendees.

WOPAs Day at Loop Road on 3rd February 2007

Better weather than last month and with the Ones at home in the LOB Challenge Cup brought the largest collection of WOPAs this season. First time WOPAs were Pete Yeomans and all the way from the USofA Matt Baker, who brought news that that Bayford is alive and well and at that time was staying at Matt's home - how unlucky can you get ! The Ones just managed to overcome, 2-1, Leyton COB and progress into the semi-final of the Challenge Cup, where they are due to play last season's winners, Old Kolsassians.

WOPAs Day at Loop Road on 6th January 2007

Appalling weather and only the sevens playing at Loop Road resulted in only two regulars Micky Ben and Geoff Bourne joining me. However there was a surprise, Peter Yeomans turned up for his first WOPAs day, Not the best day to pick, however much reminiscing took place in the dry of the bar. It is hoped that there will be better weather for February WOPAs day on 3rd February. As this date is very close to my birthday, I am sure many of you will be keen to turn up in order to buy me a drink.
